ABOUT THE ARTIST

Phil Davis is a contemporary fine artist whose work explores the friction between raw human emotion and the structured landscapes of the modern world. Graduating from Loughborough University in 2004 with a degree in Fine Art and Sculpture, his early international travels ignited a lifelong passion for capturing the raw physicality, architectural diversity, and anonymous individual narratives found within crowded city spaces.

His signature style utilises a distinctive process—a fluid fusion of vibrant, abstract expressionist brushwork layered beneath crisp, hand-cut graphical stencils. This constant morphing of two differing techniques allows Phil to blur the lines between traditional painting and spontaneous creative instinct, building rich, abstract textures that evoke complex narratives around the existential nature of life.

While his cityscapes capture the bustling energy and evolving transient nature of the landscape, Phil applies this same emotional intensity to his highly stylised portraits and dynamic figurative pieces. Using the human form as a vessel for psychological introspection, his work tackles the dualities of the human condition—balancing themes of isolation and solitude against a deep desire for connection, unity, and personal freedom.
