Retrospective. Sant Antoni Festival 2013

Third blog post.

Continuing the path of the retrospective in covid times!

Although its been some years now since it happened, I want to talk about the time I photographed the Sant Antoni festival in Puerto Pollensa and Pollensa Old Town, Mallorca in January 2013.

Originally this trip to Mallorca for the festival was intended to be for a collection of photographs for inspiration towards a painting to submit to the BP Portrait Award at the time, but this then turned into a two day photo shoot of the different things that happen during the festivities of Sant Antoni on the island.

This eventually culminated in a written article with accompanying photography in DegreeArt's April issue magazine at the time.

In the current covid climate its warming to reflect on these memories that show some of the things we take for granted now, and it reminds me of the simpler things I feel we have lost recenty, the sense of community, joy, togetherness and tradition. What I especially loved about the festival was the sense of fun and positive energy.

For this blog feature I've uploaded a few of the photographs that best capture the different events that took place.
